WITH NEIL RUBENSTEIN
Adam was walking across the same bridge I was driving over. Chris Martello was with me. We talked about Hatebeak briefly & this cool ass Sesame Street sketch.
Follow Adam on Twitter & check out his podcast, AlphaBeatical.
Mariel Loveland, of the band Candy Hearts, made herself available on short notice to join the podcast. We discuss her love affair with Warped Tour and she touches on what its like to be a woman in her scene.
Check out Candy Hearts & follow them on twitter.
Matt Pryor talks to me about kids, bands, and opinions. I used the Oxford Comma. I really hate writing these blurbs. I would rather just post the thing. I honked my horn and got honked at. Drive safe out there, folks.
More from Matt at Nothing To Write Home About.
Chris Kluwe spoke to me about his career in the NFL and American Ninja Warrior. Chris was essentially fired from the NFL for speaking out about same sex marriage in 2013. He has written two books, plays in a rock band, Tripping Icarus, and has given a Ted Talk. And we barely even touch on that stuff. I hope to have him back on one day, for sure.
Tony is back on the podcast. We discuss how terrible the recording quality of my podcast is and the Freddie Prinze, Jr. sitcom "Freddie."
Catch Motion City Soundtrack on tour by looking here!
Josh Berwanger of The Anniversary and the eponymously named, Berwanger, took some time out of family dinner to be a part of my daily commute. We discuss his inability to play rock & basketball simultaneously, and other stuffs.
Check out Josh's band Berwanger!
So stoked to have Michelle Gonzales on the podcast. Michelle played in the hardcore band Spitboy in the 90's and her book, The Spitboy Rule: Tales Of A Xicana In A Female Punk Band, was published last year and is an absolutely wonderful read. We spend 40 or so minutes being nostalgic about touring before smart phones and we discuss some race & class issues.
Please check out Spitboy and check out the book, The Spitboy Rule.
Adam Lazzara from Taking Back Sunday talks about recording the new album and body issues with me. Still hate writing these things. Listen to the podcasts. Give it a five star rating on iTunes while you're at it.
Learn more about Taking Back Sunday.
Very excited to have Brooke Van Poppelen from truTV's Hack My Life on the podcast. I hate writing these intro things. Just know that I pick awesome, interesting guests and that you should listen to all the episodes.
Check Brooke out on Hack My Life & on her web series Seeing Other People.
The sketch comedy team of Tracy Soren & Jessie Jolles joins me on the podcast this week.
Check them out! Soren & Jolles.
Rick Glassman, from NBC's Undateable, joined the podcast this week. It was a great pleasure to discuss his attempt to be America's next Ninja Warrior and find out more about how he got his start in stand up.
Follow Rick on twitter and watch Undatable.
Nate Newton, of Converge & Doomriders, takes some time after putting his daughter to sleep, to discuss his old band Jesuit and the Blood Moon project Converge has coming up. I fanboy out pretty hard on this one. Kind of embarrassing. What else is new?
Listen to Converge! And Doomriders!
I had never met Jake Fertig before. I saw some videos he did for Mashable.com and a mutual friend introduced us online. It was really a great pleasure to speak with Jake. He had some great insight on Story, Judaism, and Kanye West.
You can find out all about the things Jake does at JakeFertig.com.
Molly Kornfeld, comedian & co-host of the podcast, Babes In Boyland, postponed taking a nap by roughly 45 minutes to keep me from having several bouts of road rage. We talk about her Mom, our goals, and I worked pretty hard to shoehorn in a lame joke about Jewish parents.
You can check out Babes In Boyland by clicking here or by searching on iTunes.
This week, Johnny Cupcakes joins the podcast. We talk about the old days and he gives some great tips on how to draw attention to your brand.
Check out some clothing from Johnny Cupcakes.
Bayside's Anthony Raneri talked on the phone with me while I navigated the highways & byways of Long Island. We discussed what boroughs should be considered Long Island and why I chose to speak to Nick Ghanbarian first. Hint: It's because Anthony is a bit standoffish.
Check out Anthony's band Bayside, here!
Riley Breckenridge, from Thrice, makes sure I get home safely on this week's podcast. Among other things, we discuss Productive Outs, his baseball related blog, and then I insult English teachers... but seriously, English teachers are NOT as cool as the band KISS. I don't think I'm breaking down any walls with that statement.
You can find out all the great things Riley is involved in by checking out his website, Hermitology.
Jonah Bayer of United Nations and Going Off Track podcast took some time to help me cope with the pains of rush hour traffic. We discuss some stuff that makes me sound pretty horrible. Starting to be a theme, I guess. Maybe I'm a shittier person than I think I am. Or maybe trying to be a good person makes you a shittier person. I'm the worst. Jonah is a close second. Like seriously, I couldn't be inconvenienced for 3 seconds to say "Preferred Gender Preference?" What a jerk. I see the error of my ways now.
Check out Jonah's website and get the low down on all the amazing things he does.
